The Czech system of higher education currently comprises 24 public universities that offer a comprehensive range of study fields and subjects within Bachelor, Master and Doctoral (Ph.D.) study programmes as well as non-degree courses, and 1 non-university public institution of higher education (the Polytechnic College in Jihlava) which provides Bachelor study programmes and non-degree courses.
Following the adoption of the applicable Higher Education Act No. 111/1998, Coll., as last amended, public institutions of higher education in the Czech Republic enjoy a complete independence i.a. as regards the stipulation of conditions for admission to study, assessment of study-related fees and the design of study programmes.
The database of study programmes offered is made available in the English language by the Czech NARIC.
Prospective applicants for admission are advised to address their enquiries concerning the terms and conditions of enrolment and range of study options offered to individual institutions of higher education. Comprehensive information for applicants is in most cases provided also on their websites (note please that the institutions below are listed chronologically according to their establishment date).
