ELI is not in danger

The Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS) strictly refuses startling news, which are currently spread by some representatives of the Czech Academy of Sciences, about the unique project of Extreme Light Infrastructure (ELI) being endangered.  

 

New tools in vocational education and training

Another conference organised by the Czech Presidency on issues in the field of education was held at the Kaiserstein Palace on 20 May 2009.  

 

"Back to School" event on May 15th

Czech Republic is hosting a Back to School event on May 15th, 2009. Over 60 Czech officials will be returning to their schools to present their own first-hand experiences of the EU and engage with the students in a discussion about Europe and its future.  

 

European conference on scholarships for students from the Western Balkans

Under the chairmanship of the Czech presidency, the representatives of the EU Member States, EFTA/EEA and Western Balkan countries gathered at a conference in Brussels on May 12th 2009 to discuss the ways to enhance scholarships offered to the students from the Western Balkans. The meeting was held as part of the Czech presidency effort to foster EU – Western Balkans relations at people-to-people level, in view of the integration of the whole region to the EU.    

 

Minister Liška opened the exhibition about the technologies of the future

Minister Ondřej Liška today opened the First European Future Technology Conference called "Science beyond Fiction" which takes place in Prague on April 21-23. The event is accompanied by an interactive exhibition that introduces the possibilities of nowadays science.

Council of the EU on Education, Youth and Culture - invitation to the press conference in Brussels

The session of the Council of the European Union on EDUCATION, YOUTH and CULTURE will take place on February 16, 2009 (10.00) in the Justus Lipsius Building, Brussels, under the Presidency of Mr. Ondřej Liška, Minister for Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic. The press conference will be held at around 17.00 o'clock.

Minister of Education, Youth and Sports Ondřej Liška launched an international conference "The 2nd European University/Business Forum"  together with Commissioner Ján Figel on 5th February 2009 in Brussels.

The Legacy of J. A. Comenius

JAK.gif A new modern interactive exhibition called "The Legacy of J. A. Comenius. Traditions and Challenges of the Czech Education to Europe" was opened on February 11th, 2009. Pedagogical Museum of J. A. Comenius in Prague, a Museum of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic has prepared this exhibition as a supporting event to accompany the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union.  

 

High Level Group

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports is preparing its first international Presidency event. The working meeting of the High Level Group will take place on 15–16 December 2008 in the Prague Congress Centre.
