Youth

Mladez
On the part of state, the youth field falls within the competence of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS), whereof the Youth Department accounts for children and youth issues.

The Youth Department

  • implements and coordinates youth policy in wide spectrum of thematic fields, which affect lives of young people
  • aims to promote and provide equal approach to organised and non-organised youth as well as stakeholders involved in youth work

The primary target group of Czech youth policy are young people between 13 and 30 years of age which is also in line with EU documents for the field of youth. However, successful implementation of youth policy requires systematic approach to child and youth work even below the age of 13.

  • enhancing extra-curricular and non-formal education
  • supporting non-governmental non-profit organisations (NGOs) by means of State Subsidy Programmes for NGOs Supporting Youth Work for 2011 - 2015
  • supporting the care of talented pupils and students
  • enhancing youth participation and structured dialogue with young people
  • encouraging youth volunteering
  • facilitating inclusion of youth with fewer opportunities
  • providing information for and about young people
  • implementation of ESF projects in the youth field
