Prof. JUDr. Vladimír Balaš, CSc.
Minister of Education, Youth, and Sports (since 1st July 2022)
Graduated from the Faculty of Law of Charles University. During his studies and practice, he completed several international educational courses and was the holder of prestigious scholarships in foreign universities. Held management positions within many important scientific institutions - director of the Institute of State and Law of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences and the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, a member of the Scientific Council of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the chairman of the Czech Society for International Law. Also served as a member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague and was a representative of the Czech Republic within the UN organizations. Mr. Balaš has teaching activities at Czech and foreign universities. He is co-author of several important publications related to international law. In the years 1994-1998, he was a representative of the city of Pilsen. In 2021 he was elected a member of the Parliament of the Czech Republic.
