Expansion of regional educational cooperationAustria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia and Slovenia sign a new "Joint Memorandum of Understanding on Central European Cooperation in Education and Training (CECE)" to extend their successful cooperation ongoing since 1997. The signing took place on 7 March in the margins of the Education Council in Brussels.
CECE promotes regional cooperation and the exchange of good practice between the participating education systems. Education is the best investment in the future of the middle Europe region. It should enable young people to participate in social and economic life, to get involved and to help shape the future of the region and of a Europe characterised by democracy, solidarity and inclusion. Regional cooperation between the five countries plays an important role in moving forward together, especially against the backdrop of current challenges and crises in Europe.
Austria will take over the informal presidency of the regional initiative in 2023 and will invite partner countries to a meeting at Director-General level in Vienna in autumn.
